And a Nosferatu illustrated joke.

How have you guys been? I still have great plans for 2025, but on the personal side of my story I’m having a few tough weeks and months to come.
The year started with my right arm semi-dead from a vacation induced tendinitis flair up. I spent almost two weeks using it mostly for work, doing almost no writing or drawing. I’m all better now but it’s been years since I had it this bad.
I can tell you now that immigrating or just living in another country with work visas is not an easy thing, specially when a crazy orange man just took office in your neighbour and the country you currently resides is making a turning to the wrong side of history too.
Thank you for reading my personal grumbles Ted Talk. Now that I put that out here in the world, let’s talk creative stuff.
My Writings
This week was a wild ride – including in my writing.
A few months ago I was contacted by a person who works with creative people in Hollywood. I did the whole diligence and yes, they do in fact work there with creative people and have a very credible track-record. We had a call on Saturday and, as I suspected, she wanted to sell some couching sessions. Which is absolutely valid, and she was very upfront from the start.
I honestly don’t remember if I ever said this here, but I used to be a screenwriter, a job I abandoned in 2021 hopping never to go back after a sequence of horrible experiences. This call, however unfruitful, actually got me to write in screenplay format again. I was scared at first, that the call would make me fall even more in the pit of resentment towards screenwriting, but no. I felt actual joy while preparing a few pages of a script and it was a breath of fresh air into my writing process as well.
The project I mostly worked on this week, and the one I worked also in screenplay format, is a graphic novel project that was first born as a script and that, over the years, migrated to comics. I don’t think we are ready to talk more openly about it yet, but once I have a few more things down I’ll talk more openly about it here as well. But It’s been a joy to work on it, for sure.
Oh! I started writing in Portuguese too, but there I’ll focus on my commentaries about pop culture and stuff like that. If you read Portuguese and wants to follow along, you can sign up here: Um Blog.
My drawings
I committed a silly joke in drawing form this week – is it a comic if it’s one panel? Carlos made this joke a few months ago and with all the Nosferatu talks the past few weeks I edited it and sent it to the world – I think people enjoyed it and I hope you do too.

Drawing has taken a side place in my life at the moment. I’ve been letting my creative flow stream through writing. I’ve been making some silly drawings on my planner though, and it’s been a good way to draw without thinking too much.
A Small Recommendation
This was sent to me by a friend and talented illustrator, Brendda Lima. It’s a very heartwarming animated short about two very different friends choosing different routes to fight for freedom. I think it was a thesis film, and it was directed by Emily Xu. I hope you guys enjoy as much as I did.
I’ll see you guys next time!
