I went for very long walks.
I usually spend my weekends doing the same things: I play farming games, read a little, watch some movies, go on a library run and on small walks with my dog. We cook, sleep and then Monday arrives. Especially during the colder months I don’t really have neither the energy nor the will to go out in the constant rain Vancouver forces upon us, it’s citizens (dramatic, I know).
This past weekend it was different. I went on long walks all through Saturday and Sunday, the weather was amazing and if felt great to go out and enjoy the sun and the flowers. I was, however, using my very cute flat boot and here is where I’ll send my warning to all of us approaching our 40’s era — flat shoes are not your friends. Beware.
I’ve been feeling quite lost in my routine. My day-to-day life suffered a major change this month with my partner starting to work onsite on his new job, so I’ve been feeling a little lonely and a little lost. Getting used to this new morning routine has been kind of hard, but I believe I have finally settle down on a good one.
I took this and the past week to collect my thoughts and focus on my mental health, so I decided to push the novel episode for next week. I’ll also probably try to send a regular newsletter every Thursday, but I might also want to switch the dates for both. It’s uncertainty times, apparently.
Here’s a few photos of my weekend walks and some cute things I stumbled upon.
Saturday
I bought comic books and a soap to clean painting brushes.
We started Saturday at Lucky, a local comic book shop. I like taking pictures of books shelves with titles I might want to check later on. I decided to rebuild my comic book collection, little by little. When we moved here we gave almost all of it away and I originally thought I would no longer want to have physical books – I was absolutely wrong. I ended up buying two Hilda comic books, I always wanted to have them as reference at home.
We stopped by a store with all kind of trinkets. I fell in-love with these canned fish boxes designs. Unfortunately I do not eat canned fish, so I took none home. But they were so, so cute I had to snap a picture.
Another trinket store had all these cute and very clean-looking cleaning supplies and I wanted to have the money and a reason to buy all of them. Thankfully, I had neither.
Oh! This week I started painting with water-based gouache, but for some reason I thought it was acrylic gouache, so I bought a special soap to clean brushes and hands. It has a cute design too. I was absolutely sold because of the design. I’m such an easy target for this kind of things, I absolutely buy a book because of it’s cover.

My day ended with amazing matcha and strawberry ice cream. The best duo, for sure.

Sunday
I ate Brazilian food and bought skincare.
We went on a cherry-blossom hunting afternoon. I was now on my sneakers, so I was fine to walk around and we did that a lot again. As a millennial who grew up watching anime, the sakura blooming season is definitely one of my favourite spring moments. They are so cute, so round and grow directly from the tree trunk, which always amazes me. I’m 100% old lady energy taking pictures of flowers.

It was a Cherry Blossom Festival, so there were a lot of people leaving wish notes hanging in some of the trees and I came upon this very specific one, a reminder of the political and social insanity we currently live through.

We finished the day in the library were I got Writing Picture Books, from Ann Whitford Paul. I came across this book somewhere in the internet and thought it would be a good read. I’m enjoying it so far. And after that I had a HUGE small mocha. The colour scheme was, again, amazing.

This was a weird newsletter format, but I had fun.
I’ll see you soon.
